In short
An airdrop is free token distribution — as marketing, early-user reward or initial allocation. Real airdrops NEVER ask for your seed phrase or upfront payments.
Major airdrops (Uniswap, Arbitrum) were worth thousands. Scammers exploit exactly that: fake "claim" pages drain wallets. Unknown tokens appearing in your wallet are best ignored entirely.
Unknown tokens appeared in my wallet — what now?
Don't touch them. Interacting with scam tokens (selling/approving) is the attack vector.
