All-time high (ATH)

In short

The all-time high is the highest price ever reached. It acts as a psychological mark: below it wait "finally out" sellers, above it price discovery runs without resistance.

New ATHs attract media and FOMO — historically both continuations and sharp corrections follow. An ATH says nothing about "too expensive": markets have no fair anchor.

Is a coin far below ATH automatically a bargain?

No — "90% below ATH" was, for thousands of coins, a waypoint on the road to zero.
