A bridge transfers assets between blockchains: coins are locked on chain A and issued as a mirror on chain B. Useful — and historically the biggest hack target.
Billion-dollar losses (Ronin, Wormhole, Nomad) almost all happened at bridges, because value pools centrally there. Rule: use official bridges, split large amounts, don't bridge unnecessarily.
Why have bridges been hacked so often?
They hold huge locked reserves behind complex code — the most attractive vault in the room.
