Limit order
In short
A limit order buys or sells only at your specified price or better. You control the price — but execution is not guaranteed.
Limit orders often pay lower "maker" fees because they provide liquidity. For everything except emergencies they are the more disciplined choice.
Why did my limit order never fill?
The price never reached your limit — or reached it with less volume than was queued ahead of you.
